The road begins in Leeds on the A58 (M) road, runs northwest via Horsforth and Yeadon , then meets the A660 road , which is designated as the primary route and becomes the primary route itself, leads past Ilkley and bypasses on a joint route with the A59 road the town of Skipton . The further route leads through Gargrave , Hellifield , Long Preston , where the A682 road joins, Ingleton and Kirkby Lonsdale to the M6 motorway , at the junction 36 of which it loses its character as a primary route. From there it leads north to Kendal and ends there on the A6 road .
