The A893 road is an A-road in the Scottish Council Area Highland . It branches in Ullapool from the north of Inverness on the A9 branching and further north towards Lochinver and Durness along leading on the west coast A835 from. It runs along the waterfront for a little under half a kilometer to the ferry terminal at Ullapool and thus provides the connection to the important ferry connection to Stornoway on Lewis , the largest city in the Outer Hebrides . Originally the A835 only led to Ullapool and ended there at the ferry port. With the expansion of the road to Lochinver in the 1970s, the A835 was continued east of the city center of Ullapool to the north. The short section running on Shore Street was renamed the A893.
