from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A9.com, Inc. is an Amazon.com company founded in October 2003, engaged in the development of search and listing technology. There are branches in Palo Alto , Bangalore , Beijing , Dublin , Iași and Tokyo .

In the first few years, the company, under the direction of Udi Manber, concentrated on the Internet search engine A9.com, the product search that has since been used by all Amazon sites and a few other Internet mail order companies, and an advertising platform. Some services like "Search Inside the Book" are continued to this day, while others like our own search portal no longer exist.

This went live in April 2004 with search results from Google and since May 2006 has been providing search results from the Internet from Windows Live , a Microsoft search engine now known as Bing . The tabs on the right side of the screen were special. With these, the search history could be viewed, relevant pages viewed, and bookmarks and notes on websites could be created. In addition, the search could be extended to over 400 different sources, including books (via Amazon), images (via Google), encyclopedia entries (via Wikipedia ) and films (via IMDb ). The results could be viewed in different columns and sorted by source. The portal was discontinued in 2008.

A9.com developed the OpenSearch specification in 2005 and published it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5 license.
