AA Tauri is a fixed star in the constellation Taurus . Its special feature is that in its environment - in accordance with the discovery of J. Carr (according to the journal Science, vol 319, p 1504th) - with the help of the Spitzer Infrared - telescope hydrogen cyanide (prussic acid), acetylene and carbon dioxide and water vapor are detected could. The star thus has a protoplanetary disk made of organic material, in which processes of chemical evolution known from organic chemistry and highly interesting for cosmochemistry take place (see under chemical evolution ). AA Tauri is located in the Taurus-Auriga complex and is part of the T-association Taurus T3 and is associated with the dark cloud Barnard 18, but the star lies outside the dense inner part of the cloud.
