The AEG DI was a double decker that was developed in 1917. The aircraft was a single-seat fighter , of which only three prototypes were made, which were not particularly successful and had several crashes. After these setbacks, the pattern was not developed any further.

The second prototype is often referred to as AEG D.II, the third as AEG D.III.

Building on the basic concept of the DI is at AEG developed a three-decker version, which also unsuccessful Dr.I .
