The invitation to tender for the AIPS Sport Media Award is aimed at all people who work in sports journalism. Thus, not only established mass media but also blogs are permitted. For example, the Austrian blog for the radio show Moments des Sports received a nomination as Best Weblog 2015. The AIPS received over 1,200 contributions from 119 countries for the 2019 award. A twelve-person international jury ultimately nominated ten entries in eight categories. One of the top three was then invited to the award ceremony in Lausanne.
