history

Actebis

The North Rhine-Westphalian part of the distribution company was founded in 1986 as Actebis. After the company founders Ulrich Puhrsch and Norbert Wrede withdrew, Actebis was owned by the Hamburg Otto Group from 1998 .

Peacock

From 1988 to 2002 Peacock was a trademark for personal computers from Audio Impex, later Peacock AG. In 1999 Peacock first joined the Otto Group.

Mergers

With the decision to part with the wholesale segment , Otto sold its shares in Actebis and the cash-and-carry wholesaler Fegro Selgros. After the merger of the two distribution sisters Actebis (Soest) and Peacock (Paderborn) in 2004, the company traded as Actebis Peacock with different legal forms. In autumn 2007, the Starnberg-based investment company Arques Industries took over Actebis Peacock.

Since 2009 the Actebis Group has belonged to Special Distribution Holding GmbH, a company of the Droege International Group based in Düsseldorf (Germany).

Actebis was active with its own companies in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Spain, Great Britain, Italy, France as well as Austria and the Netherlands. From 2008 on, the Osnabrück-based distributor NT plus, who specializes in telecommunications products, also belonged to the group of companies. In Europe, the Actebis Group was the third largest wholesale group for ICT products after Ingram Micro and Tech Data . In 2010 the merger with NT plus took place.

On February 9, 2011, Actebis and ALSO Holding (Switzerland) were merged to form ALSO-Actebis Holding AG, based in Switzerland. As the owner of the former Actebis, the Droege Group holds 51.3 percent of the shares, while the Schindler Group, as the owner of the former ALSO Holding, holds 28.4 percent of the shares. 20.3 percent of the shares are in free trading (as of December 31, 2013). The two German companies ALSO Deutschland, based in Straubing, and Actebis Peacock, based in Soest, have merged with effect from October 1, 2011 to form ALSO Actebis GmbH, based in Soest. Since January 1, 2013, ALSO Actebis has been operating under the name ALSO Germany. Since the first quarter of 2013, all national companies and the Group have also been operating under the name ALSO.
