history

As a forerunner of the company, a new department called Datacon was founded within ARP AG (Swiss supplier for industrial products) in 1988 , which offered standardized IT accessories via catalog. After only one year, in 1989, products were sold under the brand name ARP for the first time. In 1990, the Datacon department became the independent ARP Datacon AG based in Rotkreuz. In the same year, ARP Datacon GmbH was founded in Dietzenbach, followed by expansion into Germany. In 1990 a purchasing company was founded in Taipei ( Taiwan ) for the first time with the aim of being able to purchase products for the ARP own brand directly from the manufacturer. The first call center was founded in 1992 in order to be even closer to the customer. In 1995 expansion continued with the opening of an Austrian branch in Wiener Neudorf . In 1999 ARP opened its first online shop and thus approached an international expansion.

On January 1, 2004, the founder and sole owner of ARP, Alex Häusler, sold his company to the German company Bechtle . At this point in time, a total of 220 employees work in the companies of the ARP Group and the expected turnover for 2003 was 135 million euros.

With the takeover of Artikona Holding in the Netherlands , the ARP group expanded for the first time into a non-German-speaking country on January 1, 2006. Furthermore, the ARP group again promoted its customer proximity by using account management, in the summer of the same year the ARP group took over the Masy micro advantage system in Renens ( Vaud ). A year later, ARP France was founded in Courtaboeuf Cedex near Paris .

The addition "Datacon" was deleted from the official company name in 2011. In the same year, ARP received the official status of "Authorized Apple Reseller" from Apple. In 2013 the ARP group employed over 250 people. Official sales figures are not communicated, for the ARP Switzerland appreciates HandelsZeitung the sales in 2012 to 95 million Swiss francs .

The most recent expansion takes place in 2014 with the establishment of ARP NV in the Belgian city of Nerpelt . Since then, the ARP brands have been represented in 6 countries and in Taiwan across Europe . In 2014, the ARP Group won the Swiss E-Commerce Award in the Business-to-Business (B2B) category .
