The church

The Protestant village church St. Bonifatius stands in a cemetery surrounded by a high wall in the Dannheim district of the city of Arnstadt in the Ilm district in Thuringia . It belongs to the parish Marlishausen in Kirchenkreis Arnstadt-Ilmenau the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

history

At the end of 1773, a pastor Stieda received the demolition permit for the previous church with the building permit for the new Bonifatius Church, which was completed on September 17, 1777.

architecture

The church in Dannheim is a rectangular building and has five windows on each side and two on the front. The slate-covered mansard roof is equipped with six gable dormers .

The slate-roofed church tower has a Welsche dome with a lantern as a turret in the eastern area of ​​the roof of the nave .

The interior in the style of Rococo configured church with four-sided two-storey lofts equipped. The font is on the east side. Altar table and pulpit are arranged together in the room. The organ by Johann Christoph Stieda is on the gallery opposite .

Renovations were carried out in 1883–1884 and in 1896 .

In 1959 the dilapidated building was closed.

After the political change , it was inaugurated again after extensive renovation and refurbishment.
