ARTE Charpentier Architectes (French: Arte Charpentier & Associés , also L´agence ARTE CHARPENTIER) is a large French architecture , planning and town planning office that operates worldwide . It was founded in 1969 by Jean-Marie Charpentier in Paris and has worked mainly in France and the People's Republic of China . There are branches in Lyon and Shanghai .

The acronym ARTE in the company name is formed from the French terms A rchitecture, R echerche (research), T echnique and E nvironnement (environment). Jean Marie Charpentier (1939-2010).
