ARVID ( A kustischer R egionaler V erkehrs- I nformation D ERVICE) was an audio service the Medienanstalt Saxony-indication provided, the traffic information and weather forecasts.
About the service
The service was spoken by a voice computer called “Tanja” and offered traffic information and weather forecasts for Saxony-Anhalt that were broadcast around the clock. Well-known role models are WDR Vera of West German Broadcasting , BR Verkehr of Bavarian Broadcasting and NDR Traffic of North German Broadcasting . The traffic reports were delivered by the state registration office of Saxony-Anhalt and the private broadcasters Radio SAW and Radio Brocken .

ARVID was presented in 1999 as part of a DAB pilot project by the GEWI company from Staßfurt . According to the operator, the aim was to simplify the presentation of services that are in high demand and contribute to road safety.
In the course of the introduction of DAB +, ARVID was discontinued at the beginning of 2012, TPEG is seen as a replacement, although not all DAB receivers can receive it.
