Wrestling

Wrestling has existed at ASV Sangerhausen since 1902. It was the founding section of the club. After training in the rooms of a brewery and in a beer hall, a separate sports hall was built for the wrestlers between 1926 and 1928. After wrestling was initially banned after the Second World War , it was reorganized in 1948. In the following years the section was part of BSG Motor Sangerhausen. In the late 1950s, however, the competition was stopped for a short time, but experienced a significant upswing from the 1960s. In 1981 the competition community Sangerhausen / Nebra even managed to get promoted to the GDR league and thus the second league. After the end of the GDR, the company sports associations were dissolved and the wrestling department was reorganized at the ASV Sangerhausen, which had been re-established. For several years the team has been fighting in the Wrestling Oberliga Nordost. The section has about 50 members.
