ATR Landhandel GmbH & Co. KG (ATR Landhandel) is a north German agricultural trading company with its headquarters in Ratzeburg. The company has existed in its current form since 1999 and emerged from the mergers of the three traditional rural traders Arp (in Sollerup ), Heinrich Thordsen ( Husum ) and Rautenberg ( Ratzeburg ). All three former agricultural trading companies were previously run as purely family businesses in the 4th and 5th generation.

ATR Landhandel is active today in the areas of production and sale of compound feed as well as the collection and trade of the grain and oilseeds produced in the region. ATR Landhandel also supplies local agriculture with fertilizers, pesticides and seeds.

The company currently has over 700 employees.

history

With Arp and Thordsen , two of the three sponsoring companies merged in 1994. In 1999, through the merger with the Rautenberg company , ATR Landhandel received its current form of company GmbH & Co. KG , at that time still under the company Arp, Thordsen, Rautenberg GmbH & Co. KG . The company's name was changed to ATR Landhandel GmbH & Co. KG in April 2011 when the new company name was entered in the relevant commercial register.

In the Husum predecessor company, Heinrich Thordsen KG , a shipping department was set up as early as 1976 for the flexible handling of the traded products. In 1981 its own shipping company was founded under the German flag and over the years managed two bulk freighters. Both ships were laid down at the Husum shipyard and put into operation in 1985 ( Ilka ) and 1989 ( Maike ). The home port is Husum in both cases . The two single decker coasters with box-shaped cargo hold are primarily used for international sea transport with products from the land trade of the parent company, but are also used for the transport of components in the offshore wind industry.

The shipping department has expanded its range of services over the years and today offers a wide range of services (including chartering, ship management, customs clearance and average handling) on the northern European market.

The company has international subsidiaries in Denmark and Poland.
