A Wilhelm Scream (short: AWS or Wilhelm) is an American melodic hardcore band from New Bedford . Until 2002 the band performed under the name "Smackin 'Isaiah".
Band name
The new band name is derived from Wilhelm Scream , a sound effect first used in motion pictures in 1951 . The band has been under contract with Nitro Records since 2004 , which also earned them international recognition.
history
After appearances in the USA, the band toured Europe three times in 2006: in January supporting Lagwagon , in May together with Anti-Flag and The Unseen and in late summer as the opening act for Rise Against . In 2007 A Wilhelm Scream headlined Europe for the first time. In 2008 and 2010 the band toured Europe as the opening act for Pennywise .
