Eel eels , bourgeois Karl Wilhelm Schreiber , (born October 18, 1892 in Dresden ; † October 30, 1970 in Hamburg ) sold eels on Hamburg's streets and markets and is known as the Hamburg original .

He was on 18 October 1892 as the fourth of eleven children of from Crottendorf / Erzgebirge originating steam hammer born -Schmiedes Christian Moritz Schreiber and his wife Auguste Ida (born Liebsch). "Aal-Willi", as he was also called, died on October 30, 1970 in Hamburg-Farmsen . Initially working as a boatman on the Elbe, he soon got stuck in Hamburg. From 1919 onwards he sold smoked eels at the fish market and elsewhere, which he carried with him in a small cart. In addition to his falsetto shouted “eels eels”, it was also typical for him that he wore a bowler hat with flowers on his head.
