Aaron Scott (born July 18, 1986 in Hamilton ) is a New Zealand football player . The defensive player took part in the New Zealand Olympic selection in the 2008 Olympic Games in China and was on the squad for the 2009 Confederations Cup .

Career

Scott was the captain of Waikato FC in the New Zealand Football Championship . In 2008 he moved to the reigning champions Waitakere United , with whom he reached the championship final in his first season, but lost there to Auckland City 2-1. In 2010, 2011 and 2012, three New Zealand championship titles followed. In 2010 Scott was in the final of the OFC Champions League with Waitakere , but lost to Hekari United from Papua New Guinea. Scott works as a teacher .

National team

Scott led the New Zealand Olympic selection as captain to participate in the 2008 Olympic Games. During the tournament he was used in all three games as a right full-back (in the last as captain), but could not prevent the preliminary rounds. At the end of March 2009 he was appointed to the New Zealand senior team for an international trip to Thailand and made his international debut . In May, national coach Ricki Herbert nominated him as one of three amateurs in the 23-man squad for the Confederations Cup 2009 in South Africa. There he was in the starting line-up in the last group game against Iraq when the New Zealand national team scored a point in the finals of a FIFA tournament for the first time with a 0-0 draw.
