Live and act

Cicourel is one of the main representatives of the phenomenologically influenced sociology in the USA; Alfred Schütz's pupil is very close to Erving Goffmann and Harold Garfinkel's highly regarded analyzes of everyday coexistence and played an important role in the development of ethnomethodology . He combined traditional micro-sociology with modern approaches in psychology and anthropology . He does not see culture and language as something given, but rather as something in need of explanation.
His research interests primarily focus on everyday thinking, speaking and social action, ( interactions ) and especially the hidden, unconscious aspects of these processes.
