The Aba River is a river in the southern part of Nigeria .

It bears the name of the city of the same name Aba and is a tributary of the Imo River . The Aba is of economic importance as a fresh water supply for the city with over 1.7 million inhabitants and its industrial settlements. The river has its source in the northern Ngwa hinterland of the city of Aba, near the village of Okpu-Umuobu, and flows into the Imo River on the border with the state of Rivers .
