Abadla ( Arabic العبادلة, Tifinagh script ⵄⴻⴱⴱⴰⴷⵢⴰ ) is a commune in the province of Bechar in western Algeria . It is located in the northern Sahara on the right bank of the Oued Guir River , 90 km southwest of Bechar and 150 km northwest of Béni Abbès . The place, a former French military base, was named after the tribe of the same name, who are part of the great nomadic tribe of the Doui-Menia .

Abadla has a desert climate with very hot summers and cool winters and low rainfall all year round. The location on the banks of the Oued Guir enables the cultivation of grain. The construction of the Djorf-Torba dam and new canals to the north of the town made irrigation easier. Abadla was also the terminus of the Mediterranean-Niger Railway .

Hammaguir, known as the rocket launch site, is located in the west of the communal territory.
