Abdel Meguid Kassem

Abdel Meguid Kassem ( Arabic عبدالمجيد قاسم) (Born June 25, 1967 ) is an Egyptian gastroenterologist and professor of endemic diseases at Cairo University .

Life

Kassem practiced in Egypt and Germany. In Germany he did research at the Technical University of Munich . He was able to pass on his experience in medical care and teaching in other African countries. He oversees medical projects in Tanzania, Nigeria, Sudan, Tunisia and Morocco. He used his international network to promote medical care, teaching and research in Africa. Since 2006 he has been head of the Arab Journal of Gastroenterology . Abdel Meguid Kassem restructured the magazine and introduced international standards, so that the magazine was listed in Thomson Reuters in 2015 . It is currently the only medical journal from Egypt that has an impact factor ; it is published by Elsevier Verlag.

Kassem is a member of various national and international professional societies and organizations. He is secretary of the "Medical Research Council" of the Egyptian Academy of Science and Technology, member of the "Technical Office" of the University of Cairo. He is in charge of gastroenterological endoscopy at the Cairo University Hospital . He is involved in various projects of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

Awards

In 2013 Kassem was awarded the Silver Medal of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria . In 2015 he received the Federal Cross of Merit . As an alumnus of the Technical University of Munich, he received the prize of the German Science Center in Cairo in 2013.
