Abdessalam Ahizoune

Abdessalam Ahizoune ( alternative spelling: Abdeslam Ahizoune ; Arabic عبد السلام أحيزون, DMG ʿAbd as-Salām Aḥīzūn ; * April 20, 1955 in Tiflet , province of Khémisset ) is a Moroccan politician , economic manager and sports function , who was minister several times and has been president of the telephone company Maroc Telecom since 2001 .

Life

Abdessalam Ahizoune began studying at the École nationale supérieure des télécommunications (EMST), the college for telecommunications engineers in Paris , after attending primary and secondary schools in Tiflet , Khémisset and Kenitra , which he graduated with a bachelor's degree in mathematics in 1972 finished as a graduate engineer. Upon his return, he began his professional career as a telecommunications engineer at the National Post and Telecommunications Office ONPT (Office National des Postes et des Télécommunications) and in 1983 became head of the communications department at the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications. As such, he was largely responsible for the planning and implementation of investment programs in the telecommunications sector.

On August 11, 1992, Ahizoune was appointed to the fifth cabinet of Prime Minister Mohammed Karim Lamrani , where he assumed the post of (Ministre des Postes et des Télécommunications) and held this ministerial office until January 31, 1995 in the sixth Lamrani cabinet and in the first cabinet by Prime Minister Abdellatif Filali . At the same time he was Director General of the Office National des Postes et des Télécommunications between 1993 and 1994 . In the third cabinet of Prime Minister Filali, he served between August 13, 1997 and March 4, 1998 as Minister of Communications (Ministre des Télécommunications) . Subsequently, between 1997 and 2000 he was initially managing director general of the telephone company Itissalat Al-Maghrib and has been president of the resulting Maroc Telecom since February 2001 . At the same time, between April 2005 and June 2012, he was a member of the board of Vivendi , the largest French media group, some of which is internationally active in the music, television, film, publishing, telecommunications and internet sectors. Since 2006 he has also been President of the FRMA (Fédération Royale Marocaine d'Athlétisme) athletics association . He is also involved as a member of the Institut Royal de la Culture Amazighe (ICRAM), a state institute for the promotion of Berber culture , and as chairman of the Society of Telecommunications Employees MATI.
