Abdoulie Cham

Alhaji Abdoulie Cham (born August 24, 1960 ) is a politician in the West African state of Gambia .

Life

After a series of certificates, Cham earned a Bachelor of Engineering Honor in Electrical Engineering from the University of Sierra Leone in 1989 . He obtained further certificates and in 1996 a Diploma in Management in Telecommunications from British Telecom (United Kingdom). Further certificates followed and in 1999 the Master of Science in Operational Telecommunications from Coventry University (United Kingdom).

His professional career began at the Gambia Telecommunications Company (Gamtel) as a technician and continued over several stations to become a manager. At Gamcel , Gamtel's mobile communications subsidiary , he was the project manager responsible for setting up and installing the GSM network. It was the first of its kind in the country, commissioned on May 25, 2001. In addition, Cham taught mathematics and the basics of telex, fax and mobile communications to the technicians and customer service staff at Gamtel and Gamcel for more than a decade.

On August 21, 2008, State Secretary at the Ministry of Communications, Information and Information Technology ( English Ministry of Communications, Information and Information Technology ). 4 February 2010 Cham was by President Yahya Jammeh to the cabinet (as Minister of Information and communication infrastructure English Minister of Information and Communication Infrastructure appointed) and succeeds Fatim M. Badjie .
