Abdul Waheed Karim

Abdul Waheed Karim (* 1927 in Kabul ) is a former Afghan diplomat .

Life

Abdul Waheed Karim is a son of Qari Abdul Khaliq, grandson of Abdul Karim Ulumi, who was once governor of Kandahar , and led the Ghilzai rebellion against Amir Abdul Rahman from 1886 to 1887. Karim studied law and political science at the Istiqlal Lycée , and at the University of Kabul . He was appointed at the University of Paris doctorate in law with a thesis on international law doctorate . In 1950 he joined the foreign service and was employed in the protocol department of the Afghan Foreign Ministry. In 1952 he was employed in London . In 1953 he was employed in Paris . In 1957 he was master of ceremonies in the Afghan Foreign Ministry. In 1958 he was Chargé d'Affaires in Baghdad .

From 1958 to 1963 he was first-class embassy secretary in Paris . From 1964 to 1969 he held leading positions in the economics and culture departments of the Afghan Foreign Ministry. From 1970 to 1973 he headed the Politics Department in the Afghan Foreign Ministry. From 1973 to 1976 he was ambassador to Cairo . From 1977 to 1979 he was ambassador to Washington, DC
