Demetan Croaker ( Jap. けろっこデメタン , Kerokko Demetan , dt as "frog child Demetan" from. Kerokero for "quack-quack") is an anime - TV series of the studio Tatsunoko Production from 1973.

The young frog Jonathan Springlich lives with his parents Theo and Lili Springlich at the rainbow pond, whose bank has never been stepped on by anyone. He fell in love with the mayor's daughter, Hildegard. This accompanies him through the problems that the school and other inhabitants of the pond cause him. The two learn a lot about love, hate and envy.

The anime series was produced in 1973 by the Tatsunoko Production studio in Japan . Directed by Hiroshi Sasagawa . It was broadcast on Fuji TV from January 2 to September 25, 1973.

The television series has been translated into over five languages, including English , French , Arabic and Spanish . The German first broadcast took place from November to December 1997 on the Super RTL channel .

The series was edited together under the title The Little Heroes of the Rainbow Pond . This was published in Germany in 2000 on VHS and broadcast on the German-language television channels RTL II , KiKA , 3sat and ZDF . The first cut is called Jonathan, the brave frog and ran on VOX , 3sat, KiKa and ZDF.

The opening credits of the Japanese version were underlaid with the song Kerokko Demetan . When closing titles was used Makeru na Demetan . Both songs are from Mitsuko Horie .
