Drosera acaulis is a carnivorous plant of the genus sundew ( Drosera )native to South Africa.

description

Drosera acaulis are small, herbaceous plants with native rosettes and one or two thin roots .

The approximately eight leaves are sessile, without stipules , narrow spatulate and of slightly unequal length, around 8 millimeters long and 2 millimeters wide. Apart from the muzzle, the leaves are completely hairless.

The peduncle is up to 2 millimeters long and has glandular hairs, at its end it has a single flower . The sepals are fused, the individual lobes around 3 millimeters long. The petals are inverted egg-shaped, red or purple and have a length of up to 6 millimeters.

The stamens are cylindrical, the connective is not rhomboidal. The stylus are forked from the base, the scars at the tip are multifaceted and multi-ended.

distribution

The species is found in South Africa's Cape region exclusively in the area on and around the Matroosberg at altitudes of over 1,800 meters in damp locations.

Systematics

It was first described by Carl Peter Thunberg in 1794 and is classified in the Drosera section of the sub-genus of the same name. It has occasionally been classified as a variety of Drosera pauciflora .
