Abigail Blackmore

Abigail Blackmore (* 20th century ) is a British screenwriter , film director and actress . She achieved international fame for her feature film Tales from the Lodge .

life and career

Starting out as an actress, mainly in London , she played in various short films. In 1999 she was seen in a small role in the movie The Criminal starring Steven Mackintosh , Bernard Hill , Eddie Izzard , Natasha Little and Yvan Attal , directed by Julian Simpson. In 2012 her director Pascal Bergamin gave the lead role in his crime drama Nice Guy . The creative act of playing helped her back to the creative act of writing. and so she took a narrative sketch show to Edinburgh in 2010 , where she wrote the script for the short film Blind Date . This won the audience awards at the Austin Film Festival 2010 and the Los Angeles Film Festival 2011. A few years later, she wrote and directed the multi-award-winning short film Vintage Blood with Indira Varma , Sophie Thompson and Michael Rosen in the leading roles, which is based on the British fantasy and Horror film festival FrightFest celebrated its premiere in 2015 and a few years later made it possible to finance their first feature film.

In 2019 she finally took a seat on the director's chair for the movie Tales from the Lodge after she had previously written the script . She directed the black horror comedy with the cast Mackenzie Crook , Dustin Demri-Burns and Laura Fraser . The cast was completed by Sophie Thompson, Johnny Vegas and Kelly Wenham . The film premiered on March 9, 2019 at the South by Southwest Film Festival in the USA. At the fantasy and horror film festival FrightFest , she was awarded the Screen FrightFest Genre Rising Star Award in August 2019.

Abigail Blackmore is married and has one child (* 2003).
