Johnny Vegas
Johnny Vegas , actually Michael Joseph Pennington (born September 11, 1971 in St Helens , England ) is a British actor , film producer and screenwriter .
Life
Michael Pennington comes from in a Roman Catholic working class family. He studied arts and ceramics at Middlesex University and graduated with a bachelor's degree . He then worked in bars in London and Glasgow until he developed the fictional character of Johnny Vegas , a disgruntled drunk. With his stand-up comedy as Johnny Vegas he had his breakthrough within a year, when he was awarded the Critics' Prize at the Edinburgh Festival in 1997 . He also gained fame in the UK as a performer in a popular ITV commercial.
Johnny Vegas subsequently received engagements in British comedy television series such as Ideal , where he impersonated the lead role. There were also more serious roles such as in the Dickens film adaptation of Bleak House , and an appearance as a supporting actor in the movie The Libertine . Vegas continued to deal with ceramics. He designed a bottle for the Aftershave Old Spice . In 2002, Johnny Vegas married his first wife, Catherine. However, the marriage, which resulted in a son, failed after a year and was divorced in 2008. In 2011, Vegas married author Maia Dunphy .
