Abraham Colles (born July 23, 1773 in Millmount near Kilkenny , † November 16, 1843 ) was an Irish surgeon and anatomist .

In 1802, Colles became President of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland . In 1804 he was appointed professor of anatomy, physiology and surgery at that college.

In 1814, Colles published a publication on fractures of the distal radius ( distal radius fracture ), which was far ahead of its time, as it occurred decades before the application of X-rays .
