Abraham II of Dohna

Abraham II, Burgrave of Dohna (born December 11, 1561 , † May 1, 1613 in Breslau ) was a Silesian nobleman and important statesman in the service of Emperor Rudolf II. He comes from the Silesian line of Burgraves of Dohna .

He became the imperial ambassador of Emperor Rudolf II in Poland and in 1600 also led an embassy to Moscow. From 1596 to 1611 Abraham von Dohna was bailiff of Upper Lusatia , and in 1611 he became the chamber president in Bohemia . He bought the Silesian registry lordship of Wartenberg with Goschütz and made this property a family entourage in 1606 under the right of birthright. In 1600 he was raised to the rank of imperial prince, but neither he nor his descendants held the prince title . In his class rule after 1600 he began to recatholize the predominantly Protestant subjects. As governor, he left the Upper Lusatian freedom of belief untouched.
