Abraham Jacob van Imbijze van Batenburg (* 1753 in Breda , Netherlands , † October 9, 1806 in Barbados ) was a Dutch governor of Berbice and Essequibo .

Abraham Jacob was baptized on June 17, 1753 in the Walloon Reformed Congregation (nl: Waals Gereformeerde Gemeente ) in Breda, as the son of Johan Bernhard Imbyze van Batenburg (* before 1723; † 1768) and Susanna de Wit (* 1723). He died in Barbados, probably at the age of 53.

His father was a cartographer , military engineer (1743) and captain (1760). His grandfather was probably Paschasius Diederick van Batenburgh.

On May 20, 1782, Abraham Jacob van Batenburg married Wilhelmina Sazanna Zurmegedé in Tilburg , born on April 21, 1759 in Veere . She may have been the daughter of Hendrik Cornelis Zurmegedé, free citizen of Batavia and Susanna Lints.

The marriage had nine children: Suzanna Maria (* 1784), Hendrik Christiaan (* 1786), Adriana Baldwina (* 1788), Jan Jacob Hendrik (* 1788), Lambert Abraham (* 1791; † 1829 in Java , Dutch East Indies ), Catharina Cordelia (* 1793), Elizabeth (* 1796; † 1864), Henriette Maria (* 1797) and Hendrika Maria (* 1801).

Abraham Jacob van Imbijze van Batenburg was first for the West India Company until 1791 , from 1796 for the British and the Batavian Republic (1795–1806), governor of:
