Abraham Skorka (* 5 July 1950 as ABRAHAN Skorka in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine biophysicist , rabbi and an author. Abraham Skorka is rector of the Latin American Rabbinical Seminary ( Seminario Rabinico Latinoamericano in Buenos Aires), rabbi of the Benei Tikva Jewish community , professor of biblical and rabbinical literature at the Latin American Rabbinical Seminary and teacher of Talmudic law at the Catholic Universidad Católica Argentina in Buenos Aires as well as at the Jesuit Universidad del Salvador in Buenos Aires.

In 1979 he obtained a doctorate in chemistry from the University of Buenos Aires . Skorka has published scientific publications in the field of biophysics and numerous articles in the field of biblical and Talmudic research.

Abraham Skorka held a series of interfaith conversations with Archbishop of Buenos Aires Jorge Mario Bergoglio , later Pope Francis, on topics such as God , fundamentalism , atheists , death , the Holocaust , homosexuality and capitalism . The dialogues, which took place alternately at the seat of the bishop and at the Jewish community of Benei Tikva, were summarized by the two in a book entitled Sobre el Cielo y la Tierra (On Heaven and Earth).
