The sources are unsuitable. One (Google Books) has no content, the other (private website) causes problems for the virus scanner. In addition, private websites are not really useful as a source. The best source (not accessible to me) is probably the MDv 160/1 “Service on board”.

Section leaders (AL) are military sub-unit leaders on board ships of the German Navy who are responsible for a section of the ship.

The section head leads the section and is subordinate to a main section head . According to the StAN, officers are usually provided for filling the posts on larger ships ; in other cases, sections can also be led by boatmen . Occasionally the holders of the posts on board the respective unit are addressed not with the usual "Mr. / Ms. rank (name)" (e.g. Herr Kapitänleutnant Mustermann), but with the abbreviation of the post (e.g. "ANO"), however, this does not comply with the regulations.
