The Abus Valley is an ice-free valley 5 km southeast of the Turnstile Ridge at the northern end of the Britannia Range in the Transantarctic Mountains .
The team of New Zealand geologists from the University of Waikato , who carried out surveys in this area between 1978 and 1979, named the valley after the name customarily used in Roman times for the English River Humber .
