Alarm Forest is a district and a settlement on St. Helena . The Alarm Forest district has 383 inhabitants (as of 2016) on an area of 5.44 square kilometers .

It is the only district on the island that has no access to the sea. It was formed in the early 1990s from parts of the Jamestown and Longwood districts. The main settlement is the Alarm Forest of the same name with the sub -settlement Briars Village near Jamestown .

Part of the district, including the tomb of Napoleon , who was buried here until 1840, is in French possession . The Heart Shaped Waterfall is also interesting for tourists .

Infrastructure

Alarm Forest is home to the communications facilities of Sure South Atlantic , the island's only Internet, TV and telephone service provider. With the St Helena Distillery , the only distillery on the island is located in Alarm Forest. Among other things, it produces a specialty called Tungi Spirit from the fruits of the prickly pear .

In early 2014, Alarm Forest was chosen as the location for the island's new main fire station due to its central location . In the meantime, however, the construction work has been stopped; it is not foreseeable whether and when they will be resumed.
