Longwood House (2008)

Longwood is a district and a settlement of the same name on St. Helena . The district of Longwood has 790 inhabitants (as of 2016) on an area of 33.41 square kilometers .

Longwood is historically known as the exiled residence of Napoleon . He lived in Longwood House from December 10, 1815 until his death on May 5, 1821 . Napoleon's grave has not been in the Longwood district since the Alarm Forest district was separated from Longwood. The Millennium Forest is one of St. Helen's most important nature reserves in Longwood.

Infrastructure

The St. Helena airport is located mostly in Longwood. The district also has the island's only golf course.

A wind farm , which produces most of the renewable electricity on the island , and the weather station can be found near the Longwood settlement.
