Academia de Lenguas Mayas de Guatemala

The Academia de Lenguas Mayas de Guatemala ( ALMG ) (translated: Guatemalan Academy for Mayan Languages) is a government organization in Guatemala that regulates the use and writing of the Mayan languages spoken in the population of Guatemala and promotes Mayan culture. It was founded on October 18, 1990.

The following Mayan language communities are integrated: Achi ' , Akateko , Awakateko , Ch'orti' , Chuj , Itza ' , Ixil , Jakalteko , Kaqkchikel , K'iche' , Mam , Mopan , Poqomam , Poqomchi ' , Q'anjob'al , Q'eqchi ' , Sakapulteko , Sipakapense , Tektiteko , Tz'utujil , Uspanteko .

The seat of the academy is located in the place where the Ministry of Defense had its residence at the time of the war and genocide.

On April 23, 2008, the television station TV Maya, operated under the supervision of the Academy, began broadcasting.
