Acanthochlamys bracteata is a species of the Velloziaceae family.
description
The plant grows in clusters and reaches a height of 1.5 to 5 centimeters. The rhizomes are hard and 1 to 2 millimeters in diameter. The leaves are 2.5 to 7 inches long and about 0.3 millimeters wide, almost erect and furrowed on both sides. The inflorescence axis is 2.0 to 5.5 inches long. The inflorescences are 8 to 10 millimeters long and 5 to 8 millimeters wide cymes . The 2 bracts at the base of the inflorescence are 8 to 10 millimeters long and persistent. The inflorescence is 3.5 to 6.5 millimeters in size and red to purple. The bracts are egg-shaped and three-veined as well as blunt to pointed. The outer bracts measure 1.5 to 3.0 millimeters and are larger than the inside. The anthers are elongated. The outer anthers are 0.8 to 1 millimeter shorter than the inner ones. The ovary is elongated, 1.3 to 2.0 millimeters long with a diameter of about 1.0 millimeters. The stylus are 2 to 3 millimeters long and usually slightly widened below the middle. The lobes of the scar are about 0.3 millimeters in size. The capsule measures approximately 7 × 3 millimeters. The tip of the capsule is white and has a beak about 1 millimeter across. The seeds are approximately 0.8 × 0.5 millimeters in size and blunt at both ends.
The species blooms in June and produces fruit in August.
Occurrence
Acanthochlamys bracteata is found from western Sichuan to eastern Tibet Autonomous Region , China. The species grows in open bushland and on grassy slopes at altitudes of 2700 to 3500 meters.
Systematics
Acanthochlamys bracteata was first described by PCKao in 1980. A synonym is Didymocolpus nanus S.C.Chen ex PCKao .
