The access point is a rocky cape southeast of Biscoe Point and 3 km northwest of Cape Lancaster on the south side of Anvers Island in the Palmer Archipelago west of the Antarctic Peninsula .
The cape was first mapped during the Fourth French Antarctic Expedition (1903-1905) under the direction of Jean-Baptiste Charcots . The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey carried out a survey of the cape in 1955. It was named after the fact that there is a suitable landing place at the north-western tip for access to the interior of Anvers Island.
