Achim Behrens

Achim Behrens (* 1967 in Lehrte ) is a German Lutheran theologian.

Life

He studied Protestant theology in Oberursel and Mainz . From 1995 to 1999 he was a research assistant at the Lutheran Theological University Oberursel (LThH) in the Old Testament. After completing his doctorate in 2001 at the University of Mainz , he completed the vicariate in Allendorf (Lumda) near Gießen from 1999 to 2001 . From 2001 to 2006 he was pastor in the parishes Höchst an der Nidder and Usenborn of the SELK . Since 2006 he has been teaching as a professor for the Old Testament at the LThH.

His research interests are theology of the prophets, hermeneutics and Hebrew syntax. Behrens openly speaks out in favor of introducing women's ordination in the SELK.
