Achim Burkart (diplomat)

Achim Burkart (born August 10, 1960 in Bonn ) is a German diplomat . He has been Consul General in Bangalore / India since July 2020

Life

Burkart studied law in Bonn from 1979 to 1987. He passed the 1st and 2nd state examinations before starting in the Foreign Service in 1992 . He then spent three years in the Embassy of Cairo . From 1999 to 2002 he was the permanent representative in Hanoi . He then worked from 2002 to 2006 at the Permanent Mission of Germany to the OECD in Paris . From 2010 to 2012 he worked again in Paris as head of the legal and consular department. From July 2016 to July 2020 he was ambassador in Lusaka / Zambia . Since the end of July 2020 he has been working as Consul General in Bangalore / India.

During his various stays in Germany, he worked in a UN department and several times in the central department in the areas of personnel and organization, most recently as head of department .

Burkart is married and has three children.
