Achim Kampker (born January 2, 1976 in Moers ) is a German engineer and co-founder of StreetScooter GmbH . Furthermore, Kampker was head of the chair for production management at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at RWTH Aachen University until the end of 2013 . Since January 2014 he has headed the Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components (PEM) chair there. In June 2019 he founded the Verein Ingenieure rten die Erde e. V.

Life

Kampker studied mechanical engineering with a focus on production technology at RWTH Aachen University from 1995 to 2000 . Four years later, in June 2004, he passed the doctoral examination with distinction. He also holds according to studies at RWTH Aachen University and the University of St. Gallen the Master of Business Administration in the field of Technology Management (eMBA). From 2009 to 2013 Kampker was professor and holder of the chair for production management at the WZL machine tool laboratory at RWTH Aachen University . Since January 2014, he has headed the newly established Chair of Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components (PEM).

In June 2010, Kampker and Günther Schuh founded StreetScooter GmbH, a privately organized research initiative that, together with 80 medium-sized companies and numerous research institutions, developed the first electric vehicle specifically for short-haul traffic. The research initiative has since developed into an independent company and was bought by Deutsche Post DHL in December 2014 and thus taken over as a 100% subsidiary. Kampker continues to act as managing director of StreetScooter GmbH and has also been appointed by Deutsche Post as a special representative for electromobility.

In 2017, more than 4,000 street scooters drove for Deutsche Post. The vehicle was also used in the Netherlands . The customer base was expanded to include bakeries, gardeners and municipal utilities. The use of fuel cells and the development of a "follow-me function", with which the vehicles follow the parcel deliverer at a slow pace, are planned.

In April 2019 it was announced that Achim Kampker is leaving StreetScooter. He still holds the Chair of Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components (PEM) at RWTH Aachen University. With his association Ingenieure save die Erde e. V. he tries to concentrate the abilities of engineers on the reconciliation of nature and people and to give the engineers and other contributing faculties this philosophy as the basis of everything they do. He is a member of AGORA Verkehrswende, of the National Mobility Platform NPM, where he heads focus group 2, of the founding commission of the Agency for Jump Innovations (SpingD) and of the expert council for e-mobility of the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia.
