Achim Wendel
Achim Wendel (born July 22, 1976 in Homburg ) is a German director and screenwriter .
Life
After training as a retail salesman joined Wendel in 2001 at the Hochschule der Medien in Stuttgart , to his studies there as a graduate engineer for audiovisual media to start. During his studies, he worked on many film productions, including as an assistant in productions for Südwestrundfunk , such as B. Crime scene . He also completed an internship at the Stuttgart State Opera . During his studies several successful short films were made under his direction.
Wendel had his first major success in 2005 with the short film "Pizza Amore". In addition to the "Valuable" rating from the Wiesbaden film evaluation office , Pizza Amore won a total of 12 film awards. For his film "The Inner Eye", shot in the same year, he also received the rating "Valuable". Both films have also been shown on German television.
His project "London is at the North Pole" is about the integration of a mentally handicapped youth into a normal youth clique. The shooting took place in Wittlich in 2008 , the premiere on January 9, 2010 in Trier. The special thing about the short film is that the main actor is actually mentally handicapped (quote from the main actor: "I have the main role in the film"). The short film was funded by the Berlin Film Fund and the Nikolaus Koch Foundation, among others . The German Filmbewertungsstelle listed it as the German short film of the month March 2010, with the rating "particularly valuable".
