Achim Zickler

Achim Zickler (* 14. March 1936 , † 29. December 2019 ) was a German physicist , who in the GDR the subject of space research dedicated.

Life

Zickler studied physics and did his doctorate at the Technical University of Ilmenau . He is considered to be one of the fathers of the MKF 6 multispectral camera , which was designed and built in the VEB Carl Zeiss Jena combine with the organizational help of the Institute for Electronics of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR founded in May 1973. This camera was one of the technically most important contributions of the GDR to manned space travel . Zickler worked in space research and development at Carl Zeiss Jena until 1979, then at the Academy of Sciences of the GDR , at the Institute for Cosmos Research . After reunification he was responsible for German-Russian cooperation at the German Space Agency (DARA) and since 1998 an East-West consultant.
