Achmad Kurniawan

Achmad Kurniawan (born October 31, 1979 - † January 10, 2017 ) was an Indonesian football player .

Athletic career

Kurniawan made his debut for Persita Tangerang in the Indonesia Super League in the early 2000s . With the club he won the national cup in 2006 with a 2-0 final win over Persipura Jayapura . He then moved within the championship to Arema Malang , where he played for two years until his transfer to Persik Kediri . In 2009 he moved to the second division side Semen Padang , with whom he rose to the Super League. Nevertheless, he returned to the reigning master Arema Malang, where he was under contract for the following years. There he fought for the place between the posts with the up-and-coming talent Kurnia Hermansyah, who was almost ten years his junior, and ultimately he was only the substitute goalkeeper for long periods.

In December 2016, Kurniawan was hospitalized after a heart attack and was subsequently in a coma . He died at the beginning of January 2017 at the age of 37.
