First ascent

The first ascent over the 700 meter high, heavily overhanging north pillar was documented in the film Acopan - Aufbruch zum Götterberg . It was carried out by a team of extreme mountaineers consisting of Stefan Glowacz , Kurt Albert , Holger Heuber and Ivan Calderón. To reach the mountain, the men first followed the winding course of the Rio Karuai in three folding boats over 100 kilometers to get to the remote territory of the Pemón Indians. An ancient legend of the Pemón has it that when there is noise near the mountain or a stranger touches it, the sky darkens and it starts to rain.

"The Acopan won't like it when you climb on it"

- Leonardo, head of the Yunék Pemón village

The difficulties of the route lie continuously between the VIII. And IX. Level of difficulty . The stands were each equipped with two bolts, mainly friends and wedges were used to secure them .
