Acrasidae

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The division of living beings into systematics is a continuous subject of research. Different systematic classifications exist side by side and one after the other. The taxon treated here has become obsolete due to new research or is not part of the group systematics presented in the German-language Wikipedia.

Acrasis rosea

The Acrasidae are cellular slime molds that are not related to the other slime molds, but belong to the Excavata . They were set up as a separate taxon from two species, but later went into the Tetramitia .

features

The Acrasidae are amoeboid protozoa in which many cells form aggregates that then form fruiting bodies, the hallmark of slime molds. However, the individual cells do not fuse with each other, but remain as cells: they form an aggregation plasmodium. As single cells, they also develop flagellated stages. The cell nucleus disintegrates during nucleus division. In the amoeboid stage, they form eruptive lobopodia .

The stalks of the sorokarp do not contain cytoplasmic waste and are made up of living cells that are closely connected to each other.

Way of life

The single cells occur on wood, dung, rotting plant material and in the soil. They act as destructors , but also eat bacteria and other microorganisms.

Systematics

The Acrasidae are not related to the other slime molds, especially the large group of Eumycetozoa . They were placed within the Excavata in the group of Heterolobosea and comprised two genera with a total of four or five species:

Later systematics they combined with their sister taxa, the Vahlkampfiidae and the Gruberellidae , to the group of the Tetramitia .
