Ad Astra Sarnen is a Swiss floorball club based in Sarnen in the canton of Obwalden . The first team of Ad Astra plays in the National League A .
history
Ad Astra Sarnen was founded on December 7, 1989 by Dominik Anderhalden, Emmanuel Hofer, Roger Isler and Marc von Moos.
From the 1998/99 season the first men's team moved from the small field to the large field and was able to enter the first division GF. In 2011/12 Ad Astra made it to the NLB (2-0 win in the best-of-3 series against Lok Reinach). In the 2018/19 season, Ad Astra Sarnen secured qualifying victory in the NLB and rose to the NLA for the first time in the club's 30-year history (4-2 win in the best-of-7 series against Kloten-Dietlikon Jets).
In 2006, the women were promoted from the 1st division to the National League B. During the 2008/09 season, the women made it to the semi-finals of the Swiss Cup . Only one year after the success, the women were relegated to the first division.
At the end of the 2014/15 season, Ad Astra Sarnen was awarded the cantonal sports prize.
In the 2018/2019 season, the men's team rose to National League A for the first time.
Stadion
The teams from the Ad Astra play their home games if possible in the triple gymnasium of the Obwalden Cantonal School.
