Ada van Roon

Ada van Roon (* May 4, 1882 as Adelheid Magdalene Schneider in Berlin ; † January 27, 1953 in Berlin-Neukölln ) was a German theater actress , screenwriter and film producer .

Live and act

Since her debut in 1902, Adelheid Schneider had worked as a stage actress under her maiden name at Berlin's New Theater, both in the capital and in the provinces (e.g. at the Deutsches Theater in Hanover ). In Berlin she met the Austrian screenwriter and later director Gernot Bock-Stieber , whom she married on October 16, 1917 in Charlottenburg .

At his side and under the pseudonym Ada van Roon, the former actress changed careers in 1919 and became a screenwriter. In this position she wrote the manuscripts for numerous productions by Bock-Stieber. She also worked as a businesswoman in her husband's production company. Shortly after the start of the sound film era, Ada van Roon withdrew from screenwriting and started producing cultural films with her own company, Ada van Roon Produktion . In 1934 she had to stop her cinematographic work completely.
