Adalbert I. von Teck , (* around 1135, † around 1195), was a son of Konrad von Zähringen and named himself after the death of his brother Berthold IV. Duke of Teck and thus founded the line of Dukes of Teck that existed until 1439 .

Life

Adalbert I was the son of Konrad I of Zähringen and Clementia of Namur . His first name can be traced back to his mother's brother.

After the death of his brother Berthold IV, Adalbert received the Zähringer possession in the foothills of the Alb around the eponymous Teck Castle and the area on the upper Neckar, which is connected to the gift office of the St. Gallen monastery . Adalbert I is mentioned for the first time in 1146 as the son of Duke Conrad I. In 1152 he is named as the brother of Duke Berthold IV. Approx. 1185 appears "dux Adilbertus di Deche" as a witness for Duke Friedrich VI. from Swabia . In May 1189, Adalbert is named Duke of Teck "dux de Tecke" in a document to Heinrich VI. mentioned.

Mention of a Duke Adalbert von Teck on June 20, 1192 in Schwäbisch Gmünd , on June 4th / 10th. December 1193 in Gelnhausen and December 12, 1193 in Frankfurt at the court of Heinrich VI. And other documentary mentions by Count Egino IV of Urach († 1230) around 1190 for the Bebenhausen monastery and by the Bishop of Constance Diethelm von Krenkingen in 1192 can refer to Adelbert I, but also to his son Adalbert II .

After the death of his brother Hugo, Duke of Ullenburg, he received his possessions in Ortenau and in Breisgau. The position of treasurer of the Principality of Basel is likely to have already held with Duke Adalbert I.
