Adalbert Melichar (born October 11, 1942 in Fischamend ) is a retired Austrian author , journalist , adult educator and cultural office director.

Life

Adalbert Melichar was born in Fischamend as the son of Ferdinand and Aloisia Melichar. In 1959 he completed an apprenticeship as an electrical engineer with the skilled worker examination.

Between 1960 and 2002 Melichar worked in the public service of the Fischamend market town and is the retired cultural office director. As a part-time job, he completed the evening trade school, an internship as a journalist and the civil service advancement examination. In 1970, under Mayor Matthias Setzer, he opened the municipal library for Fischamend, today's city library and media center, founded the Fischamend cultural group and, in 1997, the Fischamend adult education center, as a result of which he also founded the working group for aviation history.

Since 1974, Melichar has been a course director, subject librarian and trainer at the Federal Institute for Adult Education in Strobl on Lake Wolfgang, training volunteer librarians. He is a long-standing member of the board of the N.Ö. Education and Heimatwerk, most recently as director of the board and editor-in-chief of Fischamender Stadtbote.
